Importance of Navratri

Navratri’ literally translates to nine nights for which the festival is observed. During these 9 days/nights, nine forms or incarnations of Goddess Durga are worshipped. The festival honours and celebrates Goddess Durga for defeating the demon Mahishasura in a battle.

“Navaratri is dedicated to the feminine nature of the Divine. Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati are symbols of the three dimensions of the feminine. They also represent the three basic qualities of existence — tamas, rajas, and sattva.

In a Year there are four Navaratri is celebrated in a year – Sharad Navratri, Chaitra Navratri, Magha Gupta Navratri, and Ashadha Gupta Navratri. Out of four Sharad Navratri is the most observed followed by Chaitra Navaratri.Sharad Navratri 8s most Significant.
